MV HUI FA has made its first port call at Karachi International Terminal under the JKX Service, with agency support provided by GRETA SHIPPING, represented by Hutchison Ports. The vessel’s arrival was noted as a milestone at Karachi port this week, with GRETA SHIPPING and its agent Star Shipping, a PFN-Project Freight Network member for Pakistan, acknowledging the crew’s role during the event.
JKX Service Expands Connectivity
The JKX Service provides a key shipping link for cargo flows through Karachi International Terminal. Operated by Hutchison Ports KICT, the facility serves as one of Pakistan’s main deep-water hubs, equipped with modern handling systems and infrastructure designed to accommodate growing vessel traffic. For carriers such as MV HUI FA, access to Karachi through JKX strengthens trade connections and supports cargo movement within the region.
Hutchison Ports’ Investments
As part of its long-term strategy, Hutchison Ports, a division of CK Hutchison Holdings, has allocated $1 billion in investments at Karachi International Container Terminal (KICT) and South Asia Pakistan Terminals (SAPT) in 2025. These developments include automation, digital solutions, and sustainability-driven operations. KICT offers 1,500 meters of quay length across four berths and an 85-hectare yard, giving it the capacity to manage larger container ships. In 2024, Hutchison Ports reported a global throughput of 87.5 million TEU, equal to about 10 percent of worldwide container trade.
Recognition for Greta Shipping
The vessel’s operations in Karachi were managed by GRETA SHIPPING, working under Star Shipping. The company’s coordination during the maiden call was recognized by Hutchison Ports, with the agency receiving the “Masters Award” for service excellence. As PFN’s member in Pakistan, Star Shipping has maintained an active role in representing shipping lines and supporting vessel calls at the country’s key ports.
