Project Freight Network (PFN) appointed UCargo as its United Kingdom member on April 10, 2026, extending the global alliance’s specialist project logistics footprint across a key European gateway market.
The addition gives PFN members direct access to a UK based forwarder with operations in Britain and Hong Kong, strengthening coverage on trade lanes linking Europe and Asia for breakbulk, heavy lift, and time sensitive project cargo movements. For a network built on independent forwarders coordinating multi jurisdiction moves, UK representation is a structural requirement given London’s role in project finance, defence procurement, and live entertainment logistics.
The move comes as project cargo operators face tightening capacity and rising complexity on cross border shipments, placing a premium on forwarders able to deploy personnel directly to load ports, project sites, and vessels.
Network widens UK footprint
Founded in 2013, UCargo services niche segments including entertainment and music tour logistics, amusement cargo, defence shipments, and industrial project freight. These verticals typically demand chartered solutions, bespoke lashing and stowage plans, and 24/7 coordination across carriers, terminals, and destination handlers.
PFN operates as a global alliance of independent freight forwarders focused on project cargo, breakbulk, and heavy lift. Membership gives participating firms access to vetted partners for origin and destination handling, a model widely used in the project logistics sector to manage multi leg shipments without maintaining owned offices in every jurisdiction.
Members target specialist cargo flows
PFN said UCargo’s operational model, which includes placing representatives onboard vessels and at project sites, aligned with the network’s service standards. UCargo said membership would support collaboration on complex international logistics requirements.
Neither party disclosed financial terms, projected cargo volumes, or specific trade lane commitments tied to the appointment.
Outlook
The appointment reflects continued consolidation of specialist forwarders into branded networks as shippers in energy, defence, and entertainment sectors demand coordinated global execution. Further UK based project cargo activity is expected through 2026, supported by offshore wind component flows, defence related shipments, and a recovering live events touring market.
